By 7 am on August 13, the center of storm Sapat was situated at 170 N latitude and 134.5 0 E longitude, 1,100 km east from the Lei Zhou archipelago of the Philippines. The wind force near the centre of the storm was 62-88 km per hour gusting up to over category 9.

According to the Central Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre, a new tropical low pressure was coming from the Pacific Ocean after the dispersal of the tropical low pressure in the East Sea.

During the night of August 12, the new tropical low pressure strengthened into a storm, the eighth one, which has stricken the western Pacific Ocean region this year.

The storm is moving west at a speed of 10 km per hour and is expected to be stronger in the next two days. The Central Hydro-Meteorology Forecasting Centre forecasts that Sapat storm may pass the strait between the Philippine archipelago and Taiwan into the East Sea mid this week.
