A leading official of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has asked inspectors to help contribute to perfecting inspection-related legal system and improve the operation efficiency.

Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member of the CPV Central Committee (CPV CC) and standing member of the CPV CC Secretariat, made the request while working with the Leading Committee of the Party Organisation of the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam on December 5.

Mr Sang also requested that inspectors focus on supervising how inspected agencies abide by their conclusions.

According to Inspector General Tran Van Truyen of the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, various reforms have been made to help improve the quality and efficiency of socio-economic inspections.

By October 2007, the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam had conducted 26 inspections and reported the results on 10 cases to the Prime Minister.

The 10 inspections have detected fraud of US$23.67 million and under which administrative punishment has been proposed on 16 organisations and many individuals.
