FM Minh welcomes Vatican official

(VOV) -Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh hosted a reception for Under-Secretary for Relations with States Antoine Camilleri in Hanoi on September 10. 

Minh highlighted the Vietnamese State and Government's efforts to effectively carry out the policies aimed at respecting and safeguarding religious freedom, as well as supporting religions, including that of Catholics. 

He asked the Vatican continue to encourage Vietnam’s Catholic community to follow State policies and actively participate in the process of national construction and defence. 

Camilleri said Pope Francis and the Vatican wish to boost the bilateral ties between the Vatican and Vietnam, adding that he was impressed by the religious practices he had observed at the Vietnamese localities.

He thanked Vietnamese authorities for their support for the Vietnamese Catholic Church. 

The Under-Secretary is on a visit to Vietnam for the 5th meeting of the Vietnam-Vatican Joint Working Group held in Hanoi from September 10-11.
