Guest teams to 2012 VFF Cup
(VOV) -The 2012 VFF Cup will take place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 24-28 with the participation of three guest teams from Turkmenistan, Laos and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Secretary General Ngo Le Bang said on October 10 that the RoK student football team is semi-professional, while two other teams Laos and Turkmenistan are not yet confirmed to be professional or not.
The Vietnamese team will play a friendship match against Indonesia at the My Dinh National Stadium on October 16.
It is scheduled to meet Singapore and India in other friendship matches before the cup opens but both matches were cancelled.
As VFF has not yet received any sponsorship money the best team will receive a total cash prize of US$25,000, the second-best US$15,000 and the third US$10,000.
Previously, Vietnam invited the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Iran and Turkmenistan, who are considered stronger opponents, for the event but two of them declined the offer.
