King Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei has praised Vietnam’s economic achievements in recent years and expressed his belief that the country will become one of the most dynamic developed economies in the region.

The Brunei King made the remarks during his talks with Vietnamese State Vice President Truong My Hoa in the Brunei capital of Bandar Seri Begawan on March 27.

 

Ms Hoa thanked the King for a warm welcome and congratulated Brunei on great socio-economic achievements in national construction. She also expressed Vietnam’s desire to boost cooperation with Brunei, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, labour, oil and gas, and education and training.

 

In the framework of the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Brunei, on March 26 Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Hang met with Brunei’s Home Affairs Minister Awang Hj Adanan. Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in the field of labour, in which Brunei pledged to recruit more Vietnamese guest workers and organize a seminar on labour cooperation in the near future.

 

Meanwhile, Minister and Chairman of the National Sports and Physical Traning Committee Nguyen Danh Thai also worked with Brunei’s Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Mohammad bin Haji Daud. They discussed preparations for the signing of an agreement on strengthening cooperation in training activities and the exchange of coaches and athletes between the two countries.

 

During a working session with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Education and Training Dang Huynh Mai, the Brunei side pledged to grant scholarships for Vietnamese students and sign some agreements on education and training cooperation with Vietnam.

 

Ms Hoa left Bandar Seri Begawan capital on March 28, concluding her first official visit to Brunei.
