At a meeting with Medvedev, who is also President of the United Russia Party, Trong highly spoke of the visit’s significance and valued strategic partnership between the two countries.

He said he is pleased with Russia’s achievements in national modernisation and international integration, expressing his belief that the country will continue developing steadily, and make remarkable contributions to peace, stability and development in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world as a whole.

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the United Russia Party will continue to cooperate with each other to strengthen the traditional friendship and strategic partnership between the two countries, Trong said.

Medvedev said he is delighted with Vietnam’s achievements under the leadership of the CPV.

Vietnam is considered a leading partner of Russia in South East Asia, he said, expressing determination to strengthen the two countries’ bond.

He wishes the Vietnamese State and people to achieve greater socio-economic development, improve people’s living standards and increase its position in regional and international arenas.

At a reception for the Russian guest, President Sang affirmed that Vietnam attaches special importance to relations with Russia, its leading strategic partner.

He said he believes that Medvedev’s visit will strongly boost the comprehensive cooperation between the two countries in such key areas as trade, energy, oil and gas, nuclear power, military technology, education and training.

He suggested the two Governments focus on realising the reached agreements in order to develop bilateral ties in an intensive and effective manner.

For his part, Medvedev thanked the warm welcome given to him by the Vietnamese State and people and stressed that Vietnam always holds an important position in Russia’s foreign policy.

At his meeting with the Russian leader, National Assembly Chairman Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese State and people will make tireless efforts to consolidate and develop the cooperation with Russia.

He described the visit as an important political event aimed at realising high-level agreements and drawing specific measures to boost their strategic partnership established in July 2012.

Hung stressed that the Vietnamese Party, State, NA and Government are grateful to the support and assistance given by the Russian people in their past struggle for national independence and present process of national construction and development.

Delegation and parliamentarian friendship exchanges and mutual support at multilateral parliaments have aided cooperation between the two countries, Hung added.
