Another Vietnamese bride murdered in RoK

(VOV) - Yonhap news agency on December 17 reported that a Vietnamese bride was strangled to death by her Korean husband in Cheongdo district, Gyeongsangbuk-do province, about 330km from Seoul.

The victim, 28 years old, was found dead at home at 6:30am on December 17 by her father-in-law, who then informed local police.

Preliminary investigation by local police showed that the cause of the Vietnamese bride’s death was given as asphyxia due to constriction of neck. Her 42-year old husband was arrested soon after for further investigation.

The Korean husband had a history of mental illness, and had divorced once before marrying the victim in 2006. The couple’s relationship became increasingly worse because of language barrier.

The husband admitted that he used his hands to strangle his wife to death.

Local police said the Vietnamese bride has two sisters who are living in Chungnam and Gyeongnam provinces, the Republic of Korea (RoK).

During the past three weeks, two Vietnamese women were murdered in the RoK.
