US physical professor James Cronin, who won the 1980 Nobel prize for his discovery of charge-parity (CP) violation of the neutral K meson, delivered a lecture on matter and anti-matter at the Hanoi National University on August 4.

Mr Cronin introduced the results of his and his colleagues’ studies relating to the discovery of CP violation of matter and anti-matter, and also interpreted the relationship between elementary particles and the universe, as well as between micro and macro worlds.

The lecture attracted many foreign and Vietnamese scientists and scholars.

This is the third time Professor Cronin has visited Vietnam. During his two previous visits, he helped young Vietnamese physicists to join in the Pierre Auger project, which was initiated and directed by him to study high-energy particles in the universe. This time, Professor Cronin intends to announce the project‘s initial results.
