Prime Minister Phan Van Khai on June 21 signed a decision to discipline Transport Minister Dao Dinh Binh for his lack of responsibility that caused a series of shortcomings and wrongdoings at his ministry.

According to Decision 885/QD-TTg, Mr Binh will get a severe warning for his mistakes in the corruption scandal at Project Management Unit 18 leading to the prosecution and accusation of former deputy transport minister Nguyen Viet Tien and a railway accident involving a North South train last year that resulted in many deaths and injuries.

The PM also suggested the National Assembly consider relieving Dao Dinh Binh of his post as Mininster of Transport.
