The Japanese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City has signed a sponsorship contract worth nearly US$500,000 for five projects to be conducted in several southern provinces.

The contract signed on March 12 is part of the Japanese government’s non-refundable assistance programme targeting Vietnamese localities.

It covers construction of two primary schools in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces, two medical facilities in Ben Tre and Hau Giang provinces, and a system of dams in Long An province.

Since 1995, the Japanese ODA programme has supported 105 projects in education, health care, agriculture, and rural infrastructure development in 28 southern provinces and cities with a total capitalization of more than US$7 million.
