The meeting focused on two documents - “Potential, Prospects and Directions for Practical Cooperation within ADMM Plus”, and a Draft Joint Statement of the ADMM Plus, which affirm ASEAN’s determination to build a reliable, sustainable and secure region.

Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of National Defence said that since the idea of organizing an ADMM was created four years ago, senior officials, especially ministers, have made tireless efforts to finalize plans for the ADMM Plus, scheduled for October 12, 2010.

The ADMM Plus is expected to help provide ASEAN with the human resources, professional skills and experience needed to cope with security challenges emerging in the region and the world.

The ADMM Plus will reflect the dynamism of the region and contribute to maintaining the key role of ASEAN in multilateral cooperation, which will lay a foundation for building a solid ASEAN Political - Security Community by 2015.
