Vietnam has called on the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) to enhance its role in settling world economic and trade issues as well as its cooperation in socio-economic development.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Cam Tu made the call at the Second NAM Business Forum held in Havana, Cuba, on November 2-3.

Mr Tu congratulated Cuba on its achievements in socio-economic fields despite a US embargo and urged the US to respect Cuba’s rights to freedom, independence and self-determination, and to lift the embargo against the country.

According to Cuban Chamber of Commerce Raul Becerra, 220 enterprises from 42 countries that attended the forum agreed to boost cooperation in garment and textiles, footwear production, health care services, education, art and design, publication, audiovisual, construction and information technology.
