An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted off the east coast of Honshu, Japan at 17:03:46 GMT on Friday, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 20.50 km, was initially determined to be at 40.3563 degrees north latitude and 143.1775 degrees east longitude.
