President Nguyen Minh Triet has praised patriarchs and village leaders in northern Thai Nguyen province for their contributions to the province’s economic development.

He expressed his appreciation, while receiving 49 patriarchs and heads of ethnic-minority villages from Thai Nguyen in Hanoi on June 2. They were honoured for their efforts in boosting production, maintaining national security and defence and strengthening national unity.

They were also actively involved in educating younger generations to uphold the traditions of their ancestors and contribute to the country’s construction and development, the State leader said.

Mr. Triet stressed that the Party and State are giving top priority to the targets of poverty reduction, health care and education to help ethnic minority overcome difficulties.

The State leader said he hoped that patriarchs and leaders of ethnic-minority villages in Thai Nguyen and across the country continue serving as role models for the younger generations.
