PM Dung to attend ASEM summit in Laos
(VOV) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung will lead a Vietnamese delegation to the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) to be held in Vientiane capital from November 4-6.
Themed “Friends for Peace, Partners for Prosperity”, the meeting will examine the following topics: (i) economic and financial situation, (ii) global challenges, (iii) regional issues, (iv) ASEM cooperation.
The Vietnamese delegation will take part in various activities of the Summit to make a practical contribution to strengthening Asia – Europe cooperation, especially in areas of common concern, in order to speed up economic recovery, address global challenges, and maintain peace, security, stability, cooperation and development of the two regions.
As one of the founders of the grouping, Vietnam has taken a proactive role in promoting Asia-Europe cooperation in the three areas of political dialogue, economic cooperation, and cooperation in other areas.
It successfully hosted the 5th ASEM Summit in 2004 and the 9th ASEM Foreign Ministerial Meeting in 2009 in Hanoi.
