Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has asked ministries, central agencies and local administrations to better implement major targets and tasks set for the 2007 plan in order to achieve an economic growth rate of more than 8 percent.

In a government instruction on drafting the 2007 socio-economic development plan and State budget estimate, Mr Khai stressed that
favourable conditions should be created for the country's economy to enjoy sustainable development in 2007 and continue to grow rapidly in the years to come.

According to the instruction, the draft 2007 state budget should encourage business, production and market development, and ensure the implementation of the country's international
commitments on taxation.
