The President of the France-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group, Pascal Deguilhem, has spoken highly of Vietnam’s efforts in dealing with disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means and dialogue. 

A large number of Chinese ships stationed around the Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig, which is illegally placed in Vietnam’s waters, formed groups of up to 40 and aggressively barred Vietnamese law enforcement authority vessels from approaching, reported the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Department on June 3. 

The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) has published documents in Han (Chinese script) and Nom (Vietnamese ideographic script) affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos and its waters in the East Sea. 

(VOV) -Xisha islands - Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago – should belong to Vietnam as both mainland China and Taiwan have never actually controlled this territory, said Chinese citizen Zhang Pei Qiang.

The Bulgaria-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians’ Group has voiced its backing for Vietnam in the East Sea issue after China illegally positioned its oil rig deep inside Vietnam’s waters in early May. 

(VOV) - The Vietnam-Mongolia Friendship Association (VMFA) has issued a joint statement expressing concern about the current East Sea situation after China put the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

The fishing boat DNa 90152, which was rammed and sunk by a Chinese ship while conducting its regular operations in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa fishing grounds, was successfully salvaged on June 2.

Vietnam’s fisheries surveillance ships on June 2 operated about 6-8 nautical miles from China’s Haiyang Shiyou-981 oil rig, continuing their high-intensity opposition to China and demanding it withdraw its illegally placed rig from Vietnamese waters.
