(VOV) - Scholars and experts at a recent workshop in New York stressed the need to settle territorial disputes in the East Sea via peaceful means and in line with international law.

Eighteen maps, including four ancient ones, affirming Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, are on display at an exhibition in Dong Nai province.

A national conference reviewing external information work, including publicising information on sea, islands and border demarcation in 2012, and defining orientations and tasks for 2013 took place in Hanoi on March 18.

The exhibition showcasing newly-discovered documents relating to Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago was wrapped up in the central city of Danang on February 21.

French President Francois Hollande declared on January 28 that Mali’s military forces, supported by nearly 3,000 French soldiers, are pushing north in an offensive against Islamist rebels. 

East Sea-related issues should be resolved by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

More than 60 photos highlighting Vietnam’s sovereignty over Hoang Sa and Truong Sa achipelagoes from the 15th century are on display at an exhibition which opened in Hoi An ancient city of central Quang Nam province on December 25.

(VOV) - The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) on December 12 sent into orbit an observation satellite called Kwangmyungsang-3. The launch surprised the international community.

(VOV) - A national seminar themed “Cooperation in the East Sea - History and Prospects” was held in the central city of Danang on December 12 to discuss Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.
