When facing certain disadvantages in competition in the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Vietnamese enterprises will find it difficulty to claim on equality. Only crafts associations will have a strong say to protect equality for enterprises.

After joining the WTO, enterprises will have to pioneer in business activities with the Government only playing a supporting role, so the voice of crafts associations is the most important.

This is regarded as a new model that requires Vietnamese enterprises to grasp so as to make better preparations for their competitions when the WTO door is open.

Engaging in the WTO playing field, Vietnamese enterprises need to comply with all the required principles since the WTO only works with the Governments of member countries.

Considering complaints from crafts associations which represent enterprises, the Government will devise intervention measures against the WTO.

In recent times,  in preparation for Vietnam’s admission to the WTO, crafts associations have intensified more effective activities through many practical supporting and training programmes with a view to helping enterprises deal with new competitions.

Crafts associations maintain that for the sake of their existence to continue exporting commodities to foreign countries, Vietnamese enterprises should make greater efforts to meet international standards such as ISO (International Standards Organisation ) and
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point Program (HACCP).

In order to export their commodities to the EU market, they should also meet compulsory criteria to be granted CE mark which is considered a commercial passport to the EU market. For their part, crafts associations in Vietnam should find ways to attract many more enterprises. By doing so,  they will be really regarded as representatives of enterprises to protect their interests, particularly in the upcoming fierce competitions.
