US greets its 45th President

VOV.VN - With 276 electoral votes against 218 votes for Hillary Clinton, Republican nominee Donald Trump has won the US Presidential election 2016 to become the 45th President of the US.

According to analysts, the new US President’s top priority will be restoring the US economy.

In his victory speech, Donald Trump said that it's time for the nation "to come together as one united people."

New internal, external policies will be implemented

Looking back at his campaign, Donald Trump said he traveled around the country with a burning desire to enter the White House and make important decisions to change the US.

Mr. Trump promised that if he won the presidency, the US would enter a breakthrough path with a series of spectacular policies from controlling immigration to generating 25 million jobs within the next 10 years.

Mr. Trump promised to cut the incorporate tax rate to 15% from the current 35%, increase investment in infrastructure, and reduce the trade deficit. He stressed that any trade agreement must protect US industries.

Mr. Trump said US foreign policy needs to focus on ensuring the interests of the US.

He will revise bilateral and multilateral trade agreements, stop intervening in other countries’ internal affairs, and improve the US’s relations with Russia.

70-year-old billionaire Donald Trump is famous for his success in business. He symbolizes a success story of US enterprises, especially in real estate, and entertainment.

He is also a star of the US media as an anchor and producer of the reality series “The Apprentice” on the NBC.

In July 2015 Donald Trump officially became the nominee of the Republican Party to run for the US Presidential Election in 2016.

During his campaigns, many polls showed that Donald Trump had a low chance of winning the election due to his lack of political experience. But with his victory, Mr. Trump proved his advantages.

Donald Trump’s views on the US external policy are clear. He said he would prioritize improving ties with Russia, controlling migrants and making the US stronger.

Mr. Trump’s victory shows that the Americans have become insecure about traditional political policies which have been resulted in increased terrorism, gun related violence, and their declining prestige due to being bogged down in conflicts in the Middle East.

A new administration with a commitment to changes is expected to bring breakthroughs for the US and put the Americans’ interests at the top.

Heavy responsibility for the 45th President of the US

Over the next four years, Mr. Trump will have to cope with several challenges including the fight against terrorism, Syria, and the US’s relations with Russia and its allies in Europe and Asia.

The new US President will also have to handle the public debt issue. The US’s public debt reached US$19 trillion, equivalent to 108% of its GDP.

Social inequality, races discrimination, gun control, and migration are also burdens for the new US President.

The new President will be officially installed on January 6, 2017. According to the US Constitution, the new Presidential term will begin on January 20th of the following year of the election, which means on January 20th, 2017.
