The decision to launch the new law was made on October 4 following the approval of the law by the parliament in late September.
The Emergency Provision Act was promulgated in 1950 when armed conflicts occurred in the newly-independent country.
The Lower House’s Bill Committee submitted a proposal to repeal the Act to the parliament last August, saying it went against civil rights stipulated in the Constitution.
