Myanmar elected president submits proposal plan on new cabinet

Myanmar’s newly-elected President Htin Kyaw submitted to the Union Parliament his proposal plan on a new government on March 17. 

In the plan, Htin Kyaw proposed the formation of 21 ministries with 18 ministers to be appointed,down from 36 and 32 respectively in the previous U Thein Sein government. 
The listed ministries are those of foreign affairs, agriculture, transport, culture and religion, natural resources and environment conservation, electric power and energy, labour and immigration, national planning and finance, industry, health, education, construction, social welfare, relief and resettlement, hotels and tourism, commerce, information, ethnic affairs, president's office, defense, home affairs and border affairs. 

The proposal is set to be discussed in the parliament on March 18. 

Previously on March 15, Htin Kyaw, 69, of the National League for Democracy (NLD) led by Aung San Suu Kyi, was elected as Myanmar’s first civilian President in decades.
