Malaysia bans IS-related militants from returning home

Over 130 Malaysian citizens, who join the self-claimed Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, will be barred from returning home, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on February 21.

Local media also cited the Deputy PM as stating that the Government is working with the Interpol to ensure these people will have no chance to enter Malaysia.

The prevention is for Malaysia’s peace and stability, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

There are currently 132 Malaysians identified among the Islamic State force.

In January, Prime Minister Najib Razak warned of a significant threat from the terrorism group.
