People go to the polls not only to vote for an administration apparatus but also to support a policy with a higher vision.

During these days, candidates for the 13th National Assembly and People’s Council elections at all levels have presented their plans of action and listened to voters’ concerns and aspirations.

With a better understanding of politics, economics and laws, voters seem no longer passive or ready to accept any vague plans of action through their meetings with candidates. They will make their own decision to vote for the most competent.

Keeping pace with the common trend of renewal towards social progress and democracy, the National Assembly has constantly improved its role and prestige. It has always encouraged voters to fully exercise their fundamental citizenship to nominate and elect those most deserving of their trust.

Through mass media, including the Internet, voters have become better aware of their duties and responsibilities to help ensure the success of the upcoming elections.

So, people now go to the polls not only to vote for an administration apparatus but to support a policy with a higher vision. They never accept the lack of transparency in the selection of candidates as well as in the whole election process. Transparency and genuine democracy is all that they need in modern society.

In the People’s Council election for the 1994-2004 term, people detected violations of the Election Law at 28 polling stations and called for a boycott of the election results.

Now, with a higher sense of responsibility, voters care a lot about the quality of both candidates and members of election boards to see whether the regulations of the Election Law are strictly followed and fully observed or not.

Genuine democracy and due respect for voters is considered to be the key to ensuring the success of the coming elections - a political festival for the entire people this year.
