Vu Thuy Linh started Vietnam’s successful day with a gold in the women’s nanquan (performance) event.
In the sanshou (combat) event, Nguyen Thi Bich, Nguyen Thuy Ngan, Phan Anh Yen and Nguyen Van Tuan fought their way through to win four golds, bringing the total gold medals in wushu to six.
Gymnasts Pham Thi Thanh Ha, Do Thi Ngan Thuong, Nguyen Ha Thanh, Nguyen Minh Tuan and Pham Phuoc Hung bagged golds in the women’s vault, women’s beam, men’s parallel bars, men’s rings and men’s horizontal bars, respectively.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Thiet excelled in the women’s 63kg-category weightlifting event. Vietnam’s last gold on December 10 was from the women’s fencing team.
By the end of the day, Vietnam had 41 golds, 22 silvers and 46 bronzes, retaining its second position on the medals board.
Host Thailand was still placed first with 78 golds, and Singapore ranked third with 32 golds.
