“Canada and Vietnam have long established ties of educational cooperation”, said Jim Abbott, who is leading a Canadian delegation of parliamentarians and entrepreneurs to visit to Vietnam, from August 22-28.
Receiving them in Hanoi on August 23, Vu Xuan Hong, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, expressed his gratitude to the Canada Government for its assistance to Vietnamese students over the years.
Mr.Hong said Vietnam is very pround of Professor Ngo Bao Chau, who has just won the Fields Medal for Mathematics. Chau is a symbol of the Vietnamese Youth’s eagerness for learning. “His prize is testimony to the standards of mathematics in Vietnam”, he added.
