Two officials of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Vietnam have been honoured for their contributions to combating HIV/AIDS in the country.

Mary Kamb, Director, and Sonh Patrick Chong, Deputy Director, of the CDC Vietnam were pinned with the insignia "For the people's health" by Minister of Public Health Tran Thi Trung Chien in Hanoi on October 2.

During their working term at the CDC Vietnam since 2001, the two Americans have made contributions to combating HIV/AIDS, especially to successfully implementing the LIFE-GAP (Global AIDS Programme - Leadership and Investment in Fighting an Epidemic) project in Vietnam. Minister Chien thanked the CDC Vietnam and two officials for their effective cooperation and assistance to Vietnam's health care sector.
