Women’s national team to train for AFC Women’s Asian Cup
VOV.VN - The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has announced that the Vietnamese women’s national team will gather for their first training camp of 2026 on January 14 in Hanoi, as they begin preparations for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 finals slated for March 1 in Australia.
For this initial camp, head coach Mai Duc Chung has selected 28 players to train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi. In addition, the coaching staff will continue to identify and develop young talents.
In particular, several players currently competing in the National U19 Women’s Football Championship will be closely monitored and assessed, with potential call-ups to the national team after the tournament concludes on February 7.
As part of their key preparation phase, the Vietnamese women’s team will travel to China for a training camp from February 7 to 14. This overseas training camp aims to help the team gain valuable experience, fine-tune their playing style, and reach peak form ahead of the continental tournament.
Vietnam have been placed in Group C alongside Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei. Under the tournament format, the top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarterfinals.
Vietnam will open their tournament against India on March 4, before facing Chinese Taipei on March 7 and Japan on March 10. All three group-stage matches will be played at Perth Rectangular Stadium.
