VN football teams to compete in youth tournaments in Indonesia
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national men’s and women’s youth football teams are set to participate in regional tournaments held in Indonesia in July and August.
U16s are set to arrive in Indonesia on July 28 ahead of the AFF U16 Championship which is slated for July 31 to August 12 in Yogyakarta City on Java Island.
A total of 12 teams have been divided into three groups, with Vietnam in Group A alongside Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
The three top places and one second-placed team will secure a place in the semi-final round.
Meanwhile, the national women’s football team are scheduled to participate in the AFF U18 Championship between July 22 and August 4 in Palembang City on Sumatra Island.
Vietnam have been placed in Group A with Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and hosts Indonesia.
Vietnamese U19 players are currently in Indonesia for the 2022 AFF U19 Youth Championships. They lost 0-3 to their Malaysian opponents in a semi-final match on July 13, and are to take on Thailand, that were also defeated by Laos in another semi-final match the same day, to vie for third position on July 15.
