VOV.VN - As the nation’s representative in the 2021 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League, Viettel FC are set to play their games in the group stage of the tournament in Thailand following a recent announcement made by the confederation.
The Vietnamese champions have been placed in Group F, with matches being played in Thailand and hosted by BG Pathum United FC.
The other teams in the group will consist of Ulsan Hyundai FC of the Republic of Korea, along with a team that wins a play-off match for the right to enter the group stage.
Furthermore, the AFC have also announced changes in the schedule for the group stage of the continental competition.
Fixtures in East Asia will now be moved to the end of June and early July, as opposed to being played between April 21 and May 7.
As part of safety for all participants, the AFC have requested that each host country implements measures for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) prevention and control, with all members of the AFC and each competing team urged to take samples as part of COVID-19 testing.
In addition to Group F, Thailand will also play host to Group G and Group J in the 2021 AFC Champions League.
