Vietnam’s futsal team ready for Asian event

Vietnam’s national futsal team have set their sights on a semi-final berth at the upcoming Asian Cup Indoor Games.

Coach Miguel Rodrigo has selected 19 players to prepare for the event, most of whom competed in last month’s Southeast Asian Games and the Futsal World Cup 2016.

The team, who won a bronze medal in the Games, met on September 3.

The Asian event, which will take place on September 16-26 in Turkmenistan, features 18 teams divided into four groups.

Vietnam has been drawn in Group A with Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, the Solomon Islands and hosts Turkmenistan.

Vietnam will face Chinese Taipei in the opener on September 16, Hong Kong on September 19, Solomon on September 20 and Turkmenistan a day later.
