Vietnam’s football teams top seedings for SEA Games 33

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national men’s and women’s football teams have both been placed in seed group No. 1 for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), scheduled to take place this December in Thailand, according to the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF).

In the men’s category, Vietnam joins hosts Thailand and Indonesia in the top seed group. The tournament will feature 11 teams competing from December 3 to 12. The top team from each group and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals on December 15, with the final set for December 18.

In the women’s competition, Vietnam is grouped with Thailand and Myanmar in seed group No. 1. Nine teams will vie for a spot in the next round from December 4 to 13. The semi-finals will be played on December 14, followed by the final on December 17.

At the same meeting held on May 21 in Bangkok, the AFF Competition Committee, chaired by Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation, also approved the schedules of key regional tournaments. These include the ASEAN Women's MSIG Serenity Cup 2025, to be hosted by Vietnam from August 6 to 19, and the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which will take place in Indonesia from July 15 to 29.
