Vietnamese women top Southeast Asia in FIFA ranking

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national women’s football team retained their place at 32nd in the latest FIFA rankings, becoming the leading team in Southeast Asia.

They now have a total of 1,655 points, ranking as the sixth best team in Asia and first in Southeast Asia. 

In terms of Asia, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) are still leading the region with a total of 1,940 points, followed by Australia in 12th, Japan in 13th, and China in 16th. 

The Republic of Korea women's team dropped to 17th place in the global rankings and ranked sixth on the continent.

Most notably in Southeast Asia, the Philippines leapt from 64th to 54th place in the world thanks to winning a place to compete in the finals of the FIFA World Cup, thereby rising to fourth in Southeast Asia.

Thailand were placed second in the region, trailed by Myanmar and the Philippines.

Across the globe, the US retained top spot in the rankings, followed by Sweden and France, respectively.
