Vietnamese referees officiate AFC Cup Preliminary Round

VOV.VN - Local referee Ngo Duy Lan and his two assistants have met the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s criteria to take charge of a match in the AFC Cup’s Preliminary Round, with the team to officiate the game between Machhindra FC of Nepal and Paro FC of Bhutan on August 8.

This represented the first official AFC Cup match this year to be officiated by Vietnamese referees.

Previously back in 2022, Ngo Duy Lan also took charge of an AFC Cup game between Neftchi FC of Kyrgyzstan and Altyn Asyr of Turkmenistan.

Lan, 39, has been named as the winner of the Vietnam Golden Whistle award twice. So far, he and three other Vietnamese referees, including Le Vu Linh, Hoang Ngoc Ha, and Nguyen Manh Hai, have been recognised at an elite-level by FIFA.
