Vietnamese mixed archery team fail to progress at Tokyo Olympics
VOV.VN - Vietnamese duo Nguyen Hoang Phi Vu and Do Thi Anh Nguyet have been disqualified for the quarter finals of archery’s mixed team event after they failed to secure enough points on the first competition day of the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Phi Vu ranked 53rd, gaining 647 points, or 41 points lower than Kim Je-deok from the Republic of Korea who came in first.
Meanwhile, his teammate Anh Nguyet achieved 628 points, finishing 49th among a total of 64 competitors after making her debut in the women’s individual category.
Both scored 1,221 in total, placing them at 23rd among 29 mixed teams, meaning they failed to enter the quarter finals of the mixed team event.
However, they will continue to compete in their individual competitions from July 27 to July 29.
In the round of 32, Phi Vu will compete against Tang Chih Chun of Chinese Taipei who recently obtained 668 points, 21 points higher than the Vietnamese archer.
In the next round, Anh Nguyet’s rival will be Hayakawa Ren of Japan who is currently placed in 16th position with 653 points.
