Vietnamese martial artists attend global tournament in RoK

VOV.VN -Several Vietnamese martial artists arrived in the Republic of Korea (RoK) on August 30 to take part in the opening ceremony of the Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships 2019.

The opening of the competition attracted 3,200 martial artists and sports officials from 106 participating countries.

In this year’s tournament, 2,414 martial artists from across the world will compete for 271 medals across 20 different martial arts categories. Some of the segments include belt wrestling, judo, taekwondo, aikido, ju-jitsu, MuayThai, sambo, savate, wushu, kabaddi, kurash, pencak silat, and hapkido.

Vietnam will have athletes competing in several different categories, including taekwondo, judo, and traditional Vietnamese martial arts.

The five member Vietnamese taekwondo team  are scheduled to compete in their category from September 1 to September 3.

This year’s Chungju World Martial Arts Masterships, is running with the theme of“Beyond the Times, Bridge the World”, and is set to last until September 7.

The tournament is a comprehensive international martial arts competition that aims to promote the traditional values of martial arts worldwide.
