Vietnamese driver set to make history at FIA F4 World Cup in Macau
VOV.VN - Vietnamese racer Ben Anh Nguyen is set to become the first driver from Vietnam to compete in the FIA F4 World Cup, taking on a field of international young talents at the Macau Grand Prix from November 19 to 22.
The 17-year-old will make his debut at the 2026 FIA F4 World Cup after finishing runner-up in the 2026 Formula Trophy Malaysia, according to information provided about his racing career.
The event, to be organised under the auspices of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), will bring together 24 cars representing leading teams and drivers from around the world. The race will take place on Macau (China)2019s 6.12-kilometre Guia Circuit, a challenging street track known for its narrow roads and limited margin for error.
Among the competitors are Italian F4 champion Luka Sammalisto and other leading young drivers from national Formula 4 championships. The grid also includes drivers associated with major development programmes in international motor sport.
“The Guia Circuit is one of the toughest street circuits in the world, where even the smallest mistake can end a race,” he said. “My main goal is to learn the track, drive cleanly and finish the race, rather than focus too much on the result. Simply being part of this event is an important milestone for me and for Vietnamese formula racing.”
Born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, Ben Anh Nguyen developed a passion for racing from an early age. His interest grew from collecting model cars to studying the sport and building a racing simulator at home to practise regularly.
Balancing university studies with competitive racing has presented challenges, but Anh has worked with his lecturers and university to manage his academic commitments around his racing schedule.
After the FIA F4 World Cup in Macau in November, he plans to end his Formula 4 campaign and move up to Formula 3, marking the next stage of his development as a racing driver.
