Vietnamese boxer makes history at world boxing championship

VOV.VN - Talented Vietnamese boxer Nguyen Thi Tam beat her French fighter Lkhadiri Wassila to earn a place in the finals of the 48-50 kg weight category at the ongoing IBA Women's World Boxing Championships in India.

From the start of the bout Tam showed her dominance over her French opponent.

Despite winning two bronze medals in Europe, Wassila was forced to accept defeat at the hands of Tam after receiving many straight jabs and hooks from the Vietnamese boxer.

The victory saw Tam become the first Vietnamese boxer ever to progress to a world championship final, and send her to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Moving forward, Tam is scheduled face off against Zareen Nikhat of India, a formidable opponent who won the championship in the 52 kg category last year.

If Tam is able to win the tournament, she will be granted US$100,000 in prize money. However, if the Vietnamese fighter suffers a loss then she will receive a bronze medal and US$50,000.
