Vietnamese athletes win titles at Vietnam International Half Marathon 2026

VOV.VN - Nguyen Thi Oanh won the women’s title, while Hoang Nguyen Thanh claimed the men’s crown at the Vietnam International Half Marathon (VIHM) 2026 in Hanoi on January 1.

On the first day of 2026, around 7,000 runners competed across four distances the half marathon (21.0975km), 10km, 5km and a family run.

In the professional women’s half marathon, Nguyen Thi Oanh once again confirmed her dominance, crossing the finish line first in 1 hour 16 minutes 37 seconds to claim her fourth consecutive VIHM powered by Herbalife title. Speaking after the race, Oanh said she was delighted to run alongside thousands of participants and extended New Year wishes of good health and perseverance to the running community.

In the men’s half marathon, a compelling contest among Hoang Nguyen Thanh, Nguyen Trung Cuong and Edwin Kiptoo created a tense and exciting race. Demonstrating composure and determination, Thanh surged ahead after the halfway mark and finished in 1 hour 7 minutes 42 seconds, marking a convincing return at VIHM powered by Herbalife.

Other familiar members of Vietnam’s national athletics team also made their mark in the advanced categories. Luong Duc Phuoc won the men’s 5km, Bui Thu Hang finished first in the women’s 10km, while SEA Games 33 marathon bronze medalist Bui Thi Thu Ha claimed victory in the women’s 5km.

Concluding its fourth season, VIHM 2026 powered by Herbalife continued to affirm its role not only as a competitive road race but also as a platform promoting healthy and active lifestyles, enhancing community connection and contributing to sustainable social values.
