VOV.VN - Vietnam’s women’s futsal team secured a place in the final of the women’s futsal competition at the 33rd SEA Games after edging past the Philippines 1-0 in the semifinals on December 16.
Vietnam started the match proactively, pressing high and creating early chances. Bien Thi Hang tested the Philippine goalkeeper with a tight-angle effort in the opening minutes, forcing a difficult save. The Philippines soon regained their shape, defending with discipline and looking to counterattack.
As the first half progressed, the Philippines enjoyed spells of pressure and even found the back of the net, only for the goal to be ruled out. The teams went into the break level at 0-0.
Vietnam increased the tempo after the restart and took firmer control of the match. In the 25th minute, Nguyet Vi struck decisively from a right-wing free kick, beating the goalkeeper to give Vietnam the lead.
The goal allowed Vietnam to tighten their defensive structure and manage the game more effectively. In the closing minutes, the Philippines switched to a power-play system in search of an equaliser, but Vietnam’s defence held firm to preserve the narrow advantage.
The 1-0 victory sends Vietnam into the women’s futsal final at SEA Games 33, where they will face the winner of the other semifinal between Thailand and Indonesia.
