Vietnam women dominate in shut out of Singapore 8-0

VOV.VN -The Vietnam squad remains on track to qualify for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup after putting on a quite a show with a dominant 8-0 victory over Singapore on April 7 in the Group D qualifiers.

It was a night for the depth of the squad to shine as coach Mai Duc Chung made no less than eight changes to the team that outclassed Syria 11-0 just two days prior and easily cruised to an eight-point win.

Vietnam controlled the ball from the outset with an opening goal in the early minutes by Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung followed in quick succession by a penalty assessment against their opponent to double their score.

The team put two more points on the board before the first break.

The scoring continued to head south for Singapore as substitute Varatharaja handled the ball in the penalty area, with Bich Thuy stepping up to score in the resulting spot kick to make it 7-0 at the 67-minute mark.

The final score to clinch the win and second straight consecutive shutout came from Nguyen Thi Nguyet. The triumph sets the stage for the next match against Myanmar on April 11 to decide the Group D victor.
