VOV.VN - Vietnam are scheduled to play Palestine in a friendly game at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho province in early September in the lead up to 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualification.
The friendly match will take place on September 3 evening, and all preparations for the clash have been completed, according to a representative of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
VFF will work closely with the Phu Tho provincial government to successfully host the game, said Le Hoai Anh, VFF general secretary, in a working session with the leadership of Phu Tho province on August 29.
Nguyen Dac Thuy, director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that Phu Tho has maintained regular care of the stadium’s football field since the 31st SEA Games in May.
The provincial administration has directed relevant agencies to inspect facilities to ensure the stadium stays ready to welcome both teams for the friendly match on September 3, said Thuy.
The Vietnam U20 side returned home from a training camp in Japan on August 25. The clash with the Palestine side is of great significance for coach Dinh The Nam before his students fly to Indonesia for 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Vietnam will play in Group F alongside Hong Kong, Timor Leste and hosts Indonesia. Group F matches will be held from September 14-18.
