Vietnam U23s take part in training session after trimming squad

VOV.VN - The Vietnam U23 team held a training session involving light exercises in Hanoi on March 18 in preparation for the upcoming AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifiers. This comes after the squad was reduced to 29 players with five of the squad leaving.

Vietnam U23s took part in training at the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) youth training centre in Hanoi.

Head coach Park Hang Seo chose to remove a number of players from his squad ahead of the session. They include defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh, midfielders Dau Van Toan, Nguyen Vu Tin, and Tran Van Buu, along with striker Tran Duc Nam.

The overall number of players in the squad has been reduced from 37 to 29 ahead of the AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifiers.

Footballers Tran Thanh, Lam Quy and Nguyen Trong Huy have so far been unable to participate in the training camp because of injuries.

The session held on March 18 felt rather relaxed and low key.

The remaining squad put in lots of effort during the session, with many keen to impress head coach Park Hang Seo.

Quang Hai, Vietnam U23s captain, has recovered from injury and joined in the training session.

Head coach Park Hang Seo kept a close eye on the training session. After starting with a large squad of 37, he is considering which six footballers to drop next. Each squad competing in the AFC U23 Championship 2020 qualifiers is only allowed to have 23 footballers in.

The success enjoyed at the AFC U23 Championship 2018 with the runner-up title means there is pressure on the Vietnamese team to succeed this time around.
