“We have again been entrusted to host the Asian pencak silat championships in 2026. This is a high-level and prestigious tournament. Vietnam plans to stage the event in southern Dong Nai province, and many top athletes from across Asia are expected to compete,” said Tu Thi Le Na, head of pencak silat at the Sports Authority of Vietnam.

According to a document sent by the Sports Authority of Vietnam to Dong Nai’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the tournament is tentatively scheduled to take place from July 15 to 23. The local organising committee will work with the Asian Pencak Silat Federation to finalise competition regulations, including events for both combat (tanding) and artistic performance (seni).

Vietnam hosted the 2025 Asian championships at the Ha Tinh provincial indoor arena, with nearly 400 athletes from 10 countries and territories taking part, including Thailand, Malaysia, India, Laos, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The 2025 edition included 32 events across tanding and seni disciplines. Participating teams praised the organisation and competition facilities provided by the host nation.

At the end of the tournament, Vietnam topped the medal table with 17 gold, four silver and seven bronze medals, followed by Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.

The curtain fell on the 9th Asian Pencak Silat Championship on July 30 in the central province of Ha Tinh, wrapping up six days of thrilling, high-intensity competition.
