Vietnam takes gold at 2025 Women's World Pétanque Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s pétanque players delivered a commanding performance in the final of the 2025 Women’s World Pétanque Championship (Championnats Féminins du Monde de Pétanque), winning a gold medal in France on October 12.

The tournament featured two Vietnamese teams - Vietnam 1 and Vietnam 2 - in the women’s Triplette (three-player team) competition. After advancing through the early rounds, the two teams faced off in the quarter-finals, where Vietnam 2 defeated Vietnam 1 with a score of 13–3. In the semi-finals, Vietnam 2 continued their strong form, overcoming Belgium 13–10.
In the final match, Vietnam 2 overwhelmed Thailand, securing a decisive 13–1 victory to claim the world championship title.
Coach Dang Xuan Vui praised the team’s performance, saying “This is an outstanding result for our athletes. We congratulate the pétanque players on their well-deserved gold medal.”
Earlier in the tournament, in the women’s Tir de Précision (precision shooting) event, Vietnamese athlete Thach Thi Lan Anh was eliminated in the quarter-finals after a 21–34 loss to Thailand’s Choochuay Kantaros, who went on to win the gold medal in that category.
The championship took place from October 9 to 12 in France, drawing competitors from 45 countries and territories around the world.
