Vietnam starts Asian jujitsu championships with two golds

VOV.VN -Vietnamese jujitsu fighters secured two gold medals on the opening day of the 2025 Asian Championships for adults and U21, held on May 23 in Jordan.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc stood out in the women’s 70kg category, defeating two Kazakh opponents in the semi-final and final rounds.

The second gold went to Tran Hong An, who comfortably beat her teammate Vuong Tran Hoai Thuong in the semi-finals before overcoming India’s Suchika in the women’s 57kg final.

Nguyen Thi Minh Vuong, who has qualified for the World Games 2025 in August, added a bronze medal in the women’s 70kg class. On May 23, the Vietnamese team also collected one silver and three bronze medals.

Vietnam sent 11 athletes to the tournament in Jordan, which serves as a key preparation for the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) scheduled in Thailand this December.

Last year, Vietnam finished the Asian jujitsu championships with four gold, seven silver, and 10 bronze medals. The 2025 Asian Championships for adults and U21 will run until May 26.
