Vietnam seeded in Pot 1 for 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup qualifiers
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese national women’s football team have been placed in seed group No. 1 ahead of the draw for the qualifiers of the 2022 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup.
Vietnam are in Pot 1 alongside other national teams such as Thailand, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Republic of Korea, the Philippines, and Jordan.
The qualifiers for the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup will consist of 28 teams who are divided into eight groups. The eight teams which finish first will join the likes of current champions Japan, Australia, China, and India in directly qualifying for the finals of the tournament.
The eight qualifying groups are set to get underway across eight countries, including Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in September. However the schedule details are subject to changes due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The final round of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup is set to be held in India early next year.
