Vietnam honours best athletes, coaches in Hanoi
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the Vietnam Olympic Committee and the Hanoi People’s Committee, organized the Vietnam Glory 2025 programme in Hanoi on March 22 in celebration of 79 days of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27).

This event aims to honour outstanding achievements and contributions of athletes and coaches in Vietnamese sports over the past year, recognizing their dedication and efforts in raising the country's sporting profile on regional and international stages.
At the end of 2024, sports journalists across Vietnam voted for the best athletes, coaches, para-athletes, and para-sports coaches of the year.
Trinh Thu Vinh (shooting), who won Asian Championship Gold and finished 4th at the Olympics in 2024, ranked first in the Top 10 National Athletes list. Nine others were Tran Quyet Chien (Billiards), Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen (Volleyball), Nguyen Thi Huong (Canoeing), Pham Thi Hue (Rowing), Nguyen Thuy Linh (Badminton), Nguyen Thi That (Cycling), Ha Thi Linh (Boxing), Tran Thi Nhi Yen (Athletics) and Do Thi Anh Nguyet (Archery).
Meanwhile, Le Van Cong (Powerlifting) who won 1 Paralympic Bronze, 2 World Cup Golds, and 1 World Cup Bronze in 2024, ranked first in the Top 5 National Para-Athletes list. Four others were Chau Hoang Tuyet Loan (Powerlifting), Le Tien Dat (Swimming), Do Thanh Hai (Swimming) and Doan Thu Huyen (Chess).
Top five coaches of 2024 were Nguyen Tuan Kiet (Volleyball), Nguyen Viet Hoa (Billiards), Nguyen Dinh Hoang (Women’s Futsal), and Tran Quoc Cuong (Shooting).
Top three National Para-Sports Coaches of 2024 were Le Quang Thai (Powerlifting), Nguyen Dang Vien (Swimming), and Bui Quang Vu (Chess).
The Best Sports Team of 2024 went to the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team that won the Challenger Cup and finished third at the FIVB Challenger Cup.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong emphasized that the programme Vietnam Glory is not only a meaningful occasion to honour and reward outstanding athletes and coaches but also an opportunity to reflect on the 79-year journey of Vietnamese sports development.
The event serves as motivation to foster a national movement of patriotic emulation, encouraging the sports sector to strive for and achieve key objectives in 2025.
At the ceremony, the organizers announced and presented the Labour Order, Third Class, awarded by the President of Vietnam, to para-athlete Le Van Cong and his coach, Le Quang Thai, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to Vietnamese sports.
