Vietnam elected first chair of Southeast Asian esports federation

The Southeast Asian Esports Federation (SEAEF) was officially established on October 8, bringing together 11 member countries from across the region, according to the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sports Association (VIRESA).

To enhance cooperation, promote growth, and unlock the full potential of esports in Southeast Asia, representatives of the participating nations convened to elect the first Executive Committee of SEAEF for the 2025–2029 term. Do Viet Hung, President of VIRESA, was elected as the Federation’s first President.

Boasting extensive experience in esports management and strategic development, Hung also serves as Vice President of the Asian Esports Federation (AESF), representing the Southeast Asian region.

Serving as a central platform to connect key components of the regional esports ecosystem, including publishers, tournament organisers, training institutions, and educational organisations, SEAEF aims to build a sustainable grassroots foundation. It also aims to develop professional tournament systems and establish a clear pathway for Southeast Asian athletes to reach the global stage.

The establishment of SEAEF is expected to lay a solid foundation for the harmonised growth of esports in Southeast Asia, foster international collaboration and professional exchange, and strengthen the region’s position on the global esports map.
