Vietnam defeat Lebanon to move closer to Futsal Asian Cup quarter-finals
VOV.VN - Vietnam secured a 2–0 victory over Lebanon in their second Group B match of AFC Futsal Asian Cup 2026 on January 29, putting them on the brink of an early quarter-final berth.
The win put Vietnam in a commanding position in the race for the knockout stage under head coach Diego Giustozzi.
Vietnam made a blistering start, opening the scoring just 20 seconds after kick-off when Cong Vien converted from close range. Three minutes later, Ngoc Anh doubled the advantage with a calm finish, leaving Lebanon struggling to recover.
For the remainder of the match, Vietnam maintained a solid defensive structure, showing discipline and composure to limit Lebanon’s chances despite their efforts to push forward.
The 2–0 win earned Vietnam another crucial three points in Group B, extending their perfect start with two victories from two matches. Giustozzi’s team are now firmly on course for the quarter-finals, with qualification set to be confirmed later the same day should Thailand avoid a loss to Kuwait.
